A comeback

At some point in the last 5 years I stopped taking photographs on a regular basis, until recently. I shot every day for work, but as far as for my own benefit, it was few and far between. In my mind there are a couple reasons for this. Sometimes, as a photographer, you find yourself spectating more than participating in life and you just need to put the camera down for a bit. Part of this is because of the digital revolution. Back in the day you had a myriad of different tools of all shapes and sizes, then came the reign of the Canikon DSLR performance monsters. The size and nature of these cameras are just obnoxiously invasive to all involved and everything less so lacked enough control to be satisfying. For me DSLRs are over marketed, soul-less, inconveniences that suck the fun out of photography. Now that technology has finally caught up I can finally say screw 'em and get yourself a mirrorless!

  1. I think the biggest problem with the DSLRs is that they generally sold a decent body with a crappy lens. So many people never knew what their camera could do because they didn't move past the kit lens. My photography improved by an order of magnitude once I upgraded the lens. Of course, my camera is as subtle as a brick to the head.
